When I catch up on USMNT highlights and stats for players abroad, Malik Tillman is the first player I check these days. He has made massive strides this season and has established himself as a locked-in playmaker for an undefeated team in a top flight European league. He's still so young and only getting better. What impresses me most about him is his instincts. His split-second decision making has improved a lot recently, and you can see that defenses are finding it harder to anticipate his movements because he is constantly adapting to the play as it unfolds. This also makes him fun to watch because I never know when he might break a defender's ankles cutting in from the touchline or slip a cheeky assist through the backline or something else I (and the opposing defense) never saw coming. Can't wait to see where he goes from here, and I hope he gets more minutes with the national team so he can build the kind of rapport that he has built with PSV.

Where was he in Dortmund?
USSF needs to keep recruiting German dual nationals like Tillman. The reality is we have a huge prospective pipeline in Germany with our military presence in the country creating a lot of German-American dual nationals. Those players are growing up in a system much better than anything in the States.
He should return back to Germany next season. Play for a mid table Bundesliga club.
