FC Bayern beat Wehen Wiesbaden 3-2 to advance to the second round of the DFB Cup. Bayern were utterly dominant in the first half, but only Harry Kane’s goal from the penalty spot separated the sides at half-time. Michael Olise doubled the lead shortly after the restart, with Wiesbaden captain Fatih Kaya netting twice to level the scores. Munich were on tenterhooks now, but Kane headed home in added time to seal a narrow but deserved victory.

FC Bayern secured their third win in their final friendly match of this year’s summer preparations. In their dress rehearsal ahead of Saturday’s Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against VfB Stuttgart in Stuttgart, the German record champions defeated Grasshopper Club Zurich 2-1. Youngsters Lennart Karl and Jonah Kusi-Asare scored impressive goals against the Swiss side in the first half. For coach Vincent Kompany, it was another good opportunity to gain impressions ahead of the upcoming competitive matches against Stuttgart and, six days later, RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, following victories against Lyon (2-1) and Tottenham (4-0).
