When it comes to next summer’s transfer window, Liverpool’s midfield will need a little bit of a reshape.

There will not be wholesale alterations, but there remain question marks over the long-term futures of several players in that area of the pitch (Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain being the prime example) while Gini Wijnaldum was not directly replaced last summer.

There are a number of names to consider when it comes to possible incoming transfers, with Florian Neuhaus one that could re-emerge as a stand-out name, and Jude Bellingham likely to be heavily linked, even if the cost of signing the England man would be vast and probably beyond Liverpool’s means.

One way to save on a transfer fee, though, would be to move for a free agent — and there are plenty to pick from.

Corentin Tolisso (Bayern Munuch) is another less mentioned name, though Tottenham, Inter Milan and Juventus are all supposedly interested in moving for the France international.

Liverpool could do far worse than consider joining the queue, however, for the midfielder who Lyon sold the midfielder to Bayern Munich for around £33m back in 2017.
